Pineapple Upside-Down Smoked Old Fashioned (a Mocktail)

I’ve been experimenting with elevated mocktails that still feel like a real cocktail, and this Pineapple Upside-Down Smoked Old Fashioned might be my favorite yet.

How to make it at home

This one uses an alcohol-free spirit as the base, so everyone at the table can enjoy it.

Ingredients (1 drink)

  • 2 oz alcohol-free oak-aged spirit
  • 1 1/2 oz fresh pineapple juice
  • 1/2 oz pineapple syrup (or simple syrup plus a splash of pineapple)
  • 2 dashes alcohol-free bitters
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • Ice cubes
  • Pineapple wedge, for garnish
  • Cinnamon wood chips, for smoking

Directions

  1. Stir the base spirit, pineapple juice, pineapple syrup, bitters, vanilla, and cinnamon in a mixing glass for 20–25 seconds.
  2. Add ice to a lowball glass.
  3. Lightly smoke your drink using cinnamon wood chips for 10–15 seconds.
  4. Garnish with a pineapple wedge and cinnamon.

The oaky warmth paired with bright pineapple and cozy cinnamon gives total pineapple upside-down cake energy, but in a smoky, grown-up sip.
